Japanese 7.7 Reloading
OK, does anyone in this forum have an answer for this?
Is there a brass case of what ever caliber that can be full length
re-sized to load 7.7 Japanese? Example, using 30-06 brass and resizing to 270 as I have for the last 40 years or so.
Will a 30-06 brass work? Need help here guys!

Made more than a few out of the 30-06. Rough trim first, and work the shoulder back in stages than do the final trimming. Annealing may be of some benifit.
Note that while the base diameter is only supposed to be a couple thou larger on the 7.7x58, the chambers are often "jugged" (oversize), so you may only want to reload the brass 2-3 times and size the minimum amount neccessory to insure chambering0 -
Anything with an 06 size base will work- even 8mm Mauser that while a tad short in the neck, is probably the easiest to work with.
Grafs sells the proper stamped brass though.0 -

I'd kindly suggest you put it on the auction side.0 -
Graf & Sons still lists 7.7 Jap(PRVI) on page 118 of their current catalog. $40 per 100--not bad. 0 -

Out of stock on their website.
The high-end stuff is still there, though.0 -
Tailgunner and Jonk are essential;ly right. However I feel that it is even easier. I have been making this conversion for over 20 yrs with absolutyely no problems. Working the shoulder down has never been a problem, and the 3-4 thousanths difference in the NOMINAL bdy diameter is absolutely of no concern. Remember when the manuals give you case dimensions they are talking about VIRGIN cases. The 30/07 cases you are using are FIRED and will be a couple of thousanths over industry std .
\PS USGI cases are the best!
