to cast solid brass or copper bullets i have a bunch of brass (not ammo brass) and was thinking about doing this [?]

  Check out Corbin for swaging lead core, brass jacketed bullets. Have never heard of anyone casting from pure brass. (Which probably means that someone, somewhere, is.) I'd think that temperatures required alone would be prohibitive?
