.44 Special, 2" Barrel
Have been loading the .44 special for years, but always for my 6 1/2 inch Model 24 or one of my 6.5 to 7.5 inch Blackhawks. 2400 has always worked great and I have target and "social" loads that run from about 750 to 1,000 fps.
Now a new toy has come into the picture; a 2" Taurus, and I'd like to work up, again, a nice target, and a decent load for social occasions.
I'm sure there are better powders for that short tube than my standby 2400 and would love to hear from anyone who has worked with this round in the short barrel. Most likely be shooting 240 SWC hard cast. Maybe the same weight in swaged for the target loads.
Thanks

I like Titegroup for the 240 cast. Run around 850+ fps. 0 -
7.5 gr of Unique will give you a good load with the 240 gr cast bullet. 0 -
I'd be looking at a fast powder like Bullseye or faster and a magnum primer for so short a barrel. 0 -
All comments appreciated. Fast powder and magnum primers make sense.
(Did I hear someone say, "Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money?"
