9mm and lead bullets ????
Never loaded lead bullets for my S&W 5906 , but jacketed bullets are getting harder to find , and when you do they cost twice as much .
I found some 125gr lead R.N. made by Missouri Bullet Co. on the auction side , and was wondering if anyone used these before , or knows of a good powder to use for lead .

Just using these for plinking , as long as they work the action and don't lead the barrel I'll be happy.
The gun fires any bullet / powder combo I put in it , not a fussy gun at all .
Thanks for any sugestions .

No comment on those bullets. I am using a 125 LRN with 700x to keep the bullet velocity low enough not to cause leading. Using speer bullets, probably on the pricier side of lead bullets though. I haven't had any issue with leading yet. I want to try Zero lead bullets, but they seem to be out of stock. In the future, I may switch to a magnum primer, and drop the powder charge so I can get full powder burn, which should make for some cleaner shooting. 0 -
No issues with lead bullets cycling the action ??? 0 -

No issues with lead bullets cycling the action ???
Non so far. I should say, once I got the load where it needed to be, it cycled fine. My first couple loads were on the light side, of course causing cycling issues. I ran from 2.9 grain to 3.5 grains and started to get flat primers at 3.4 grain. This is with OAL of 1.100" I went short to stop any miss feeds. I am going to load some 3.3 and 3.4 at 1.115 and 1.120 and see what happens. I am trying to stay under 950FPS, to minimize the leading.0 -
It shouldn't be much of a problem if the gun allows cast bullets at all (those with polygonal rifling cannot be shot with lead).
Mike Venturino shoots mostly lead bullets through his submachine guns, using (I think) only one load recipe. I don't have it at hand, but he writes about it often in Shooting Times. An online search might turn it up easily.0 -
well 375h&h i use lead in both my s&w6904 and caspain 9mms with no problems. i usually load with clays&125gr round nose.and as with every body else keep the velocity down.i too hate to scrub lead from bores. 0 -
I've used quite a few 115 SWC lead through a Ruger P89 with no problems. These feed well and are accurate in my pistol. Can't say what they'll do in another. 0 -
The 9mm is a fairly high pressure round. You need a good bullet fit- 1/1000 over bore diameter- and a lube on the bullet. You may or may not want a gas check; to keep costs down probably not.
I run about 3 grains of bullseye under a 125 lead round nose with no issue. Very mild load.0 -
hello;
3.3gr. of hp38(ww231)135gr cast lead bullet. cycles sig. p6/s&w 5906,5903/ruger p89/ bhp. very accurate, min. leading of barrel.
3.3gr = 2k+ reloads per pound of powder.
