Pedersoli double rifle loads
Well, I finally gave in, and ordered a Pedersoli Kodiak Mk IV in .45/70, and I know I can't push my Ruger #1 loads through the gun, but I really don't want to hunt with cast lead and Trail Boss.
Looking at Hodgdon's website, they list "Trapdoor," "Lever Action," and "Modern Rifle" loads, so my question is what the maximum level that I could run through it? They specify that it's safe for BP or factory loads--well there's a pretty big difference between Ten-X and Buffalo Bore.
So, are there any guidelines as far as how to load for this one?
Thanks much.

Pedersoli says all their .45-70s are proof tested for use with SAAMI spec loads of 28,000 psi.
Hodgdon's categories look a little scattered, go by the pressure readings.0 -
Look at Varget powder from Hodgdon. 60 grains of Varget with a 350 grain Hornady roundnose is about 28K in pressure and 2000fps. I shoot this in my Siace double rifle, but it is a little different than yours. Start low and work up a load that regulates well. You need to get both barrels shooting to the same point of impact, and this can be a challenge. 0
