Going to start reloading and need advice
Here is what I am planning to reload
.223, 22 250 and 6.5 x 284. Everything I have read seems to be pointing at the RCBS Rock Chucker kit and the necessary add ons. If you were starting is that a good way to go?

Reading a reloading manual is first in my opinion. Have you done a search for the topic in this forum. Many threads cover the issue. 0 -
SG-RockChucker is great choice. I have two set up on my bench. It will last a lifetime and will load everything from .17 to .458. Start slow and read a lot! Reloading is dangerous and not for people who can't follow directions or are prone to making mistakes! 0 -
Do your reading first, second go see somebody reloading see what you like or dislike. Kits for my self have a bunch of stuff I'll never use. How many rounds do you want to reload. I load several thousand a year and do it on a single stage press. Due to there max or near loads and also loading for accuracy. Have a digital powder dispenser that speeds the process up. I don't trust most small powder dispensers. Use a lee hand primer and > RCBS rockchucker[big max], rcbs powder dispenser, Carbide dies for pistol[no lube needed] spray lube, forester trimmer. Loaded for years with out a tumbler [washed them]A good caliper is a must. RCBS makes excellent equipment. Buy good the first time so you don't have to buy twice 0 -
Read some books first. As alreay stated, search the forum using the link in the upper right of the page. Lots of old topics there. The ABC's of Reloading and Lyman Handbook are two books you hear mentioned alot. You can also go the www.midwayusa.com and read reviews on different kits and many other things. 0 -

I am one of those dorks that measures twice, maybe even three times b/4 he cuts once.
Ammo is getting VERY hard to find. Are we expecting World War 3?0 -
Ask around the club/range - find a few folks who will let you watch loading...try their presses, and then decide. Get some Hands-On practice before you commit to any particular brand.
Yeah, read a LOT.
Be very self-critical, and do not chamber any round that you are not sure of. More brass and bullets are cheap, new Rifles/hand surgery is not.
Don't be tired/drunk/high anywhere or anywhen near the Loading Day.
Be a great Cookbook (Read and follow the directions/measures EXACTLY) reloader for a LONG time before you start to experiment, then talk to a real experienced reloader about the specifics of your first few experiments. The Notes, The Maximums, The Minimums, and the Cartridge measurements can be tricky to deviate from.
Get a QUALITY caliper, and use the heck out of it!
Read EVERY footnote in your Powder Mfgr/Loader Mfgr/Bullet Mfgr/Reloading Manual.
Keep a notebook for yourself about things you do.0 -
