Rem222 with 1-9 twist
hello out there. I recently aquired a ruger mk77 in 222 with a 1-9 twist, and I did call ruger tech support to verify this. I reload, and understand twist rate and that an ideal bullet for this would be 60-65 grns. I would like to hear from some one who has had real on hands expierience with this caliber and twist rate with lighter bullets. Any pet loads to give me a good starting point would be greatly appreciated.

I shoot a 222 single on occasion varmit hunting w/ about the same twist to my recollection. The rifle really prefers the 50-55 gr bullets as thats the largest I've seen commercially. Have shot some 40's but just nothing consistent for my rifle. As for handloads thats not my territory, sorry.
Also, PRVI Partizan produces some brass cased 55gr fmjbt and 50gr sp's that make for damn good ammo at a great price these days, @$7-9/box/20rd Really good quality rds for the $$, not too dirty and perform well Midway---http://www.midwayusa.com/browse/BrowseProducts.aspx?pageNum=1&tabId=3&categoryId=7518&categoryString=653***690***0 -
You can shoot up to 75 grain bullets with a 9 twist, and it will also shoot the light weights very good if your rifle likes them.. H-4198 is good with the lighter bullets, and H-4895 for the heavier weights... 0 -
Chillum, I also have the MKII in .222 with the 1-9 twist. As you probably found out, data for the heavy bullets is kinda scarce. I have worked up loads for mine with the 50-52 and 55gr. Shoots these great. Give me a call and I'll share data with you. Willy. 989-733-2829 0 -
