OAL gauge
I was thinking of buying a Hornady OAL gauge and bullet comparator. Does anybody out their use one ,and do you think it's helpful.

It's just as easy and cheaper to boot if you open up the neck on your cartridge just barely enough for a bullet to be slipped in with a bit of pressure. Leave it long and chamber it, when it's ejected you'll have a the exact length to seat to the lands each and every time......
Measure off the ogive, not the tip......0 -
I use one and like it. I've never had trouble breaking the threads off either. You have to realize it is not a pry-bar. 0 -
You will definitely need the comparator to measure off the ogive. This is a very good tool.
I have used different OAL gauges from different manufacturers and find the measurements I obtain from the Hornady (formerly Stony Point tool) to be the most accurate and consistent.
Well worth the money for both.0
