I used a Midway brand (now frankford arsenal) for years. It met an untimely end when my German Shepherd decided that I was loading to much and not playing with him enough. Amazing what a good set of choppers will do to stainless steel calipers. Nothing wrong with them before the accident though. Check Midway USA, 0 -

I like Mitutoyo and Hexagon Metrology (brown and sharp, Etalon, Tesa) stuff. Old starrett equipment is also really nice, new stuff is not so nice (china crap). 0 -
Like shoff14 said .......stick to the Brown & Sharpe or Etalon. [:D] 0 -
My Mitutoyo is in my range bag--I use it to measure group size. But the one that's on my reloading bench is a Brown & Sharpe. When it comes to critical measurements, I don't think you want to go for cheap. 0 -
I also recommend Brown & Sharp or Etalon. I have an older RCBS (probably chinese) that is very accurate. I have a Starret with a pretty red dial that is just crap. In fact it fell apart after about a year and I foolishly spent the money to have it repaired and calibrated (probably because I like the pretty red dial). Still crap. 0 -
Mitutoyo - Worked in a metrology facility and this was the best of the bunch. Starrett was also decent. B&S was very difficult to adjust or to repair if there were problems. Get a couple of good gauge blocks to verify on occasion. 0 -
OOPS - Cheap is usually just that - cheap. They do not stand up or hold their accuracy. Especially true of inexpensive electronic calipers. [:o)] 0 -
the mitutoyo electronic calipers are very accurate. I work in a machine shop and most of the machinest use them i have them to be very dependable 0 -
check your pawn shop for good quality tools.

I help the guys in my shop buy their tools, but only if it is Mitutoyo, Brown and Sharp, or Fowler; for the money IMHO Fowler is the best buy for the $
