Large Pistol Primers in 40 S&W?

Well has any one tried it or heard of using Large Pistol Primers in a .40 S&W Load?

  I was brousing through my Lyman manual the other day and it said that originally the 40 S&W was going to use large primers but when a loaded round was ejected from the chamber the primer would be hit by the ejector and create the problem of possibly setting off the unchambered round so they switched to small pistol primers to fix the problem.
