Reloading dies for 9mm makarov

Very different. The 9mmParabellum is a 9x19 and the Mak is ahorter at 9x18, so the deeper die crimp won't reach the Mak. And the case diameters are different as well. The 9mmP uses a .355" bullet and the Mak is a true 9mm at .363" so its case is fatter. The Mak is also a straight-side case while the 9mmP is tapered. All told, two completely different rounds.

And before you ask, no; the Mak is also not the same as the .380.

If you haven't read it yet, may I invite you to see my article on it? It was the first article on reloading the Mak, and appeared in American Rifleman in 1992.

I am carefully trimming standard 9mm luger to Makarov size and using the Lee dyes. For plinking rounds this has been working great. The second time through the brass is sized much better. I am getting 4 uses including the initial firing of the 9mm luger before the trim job. I use 3.2 g of WW231 and a 94g LRN. I am shooting CZ82s so the barrels have to be cleaned real well. I use the Outers system for that about every third trip to the range.
