I'm new to reloading and have a powder question
I'm just getting into reloading. I have acouple manuels and have read them. I use to reload shotgun shells with my dad but that was over 20 years ago when i was a kid. anyway I'm going to be reloading for a 300 win mag and want to know what powder seems to work best for this cal. I'll be reloading bullets between 167 and 180 grains.

The 300 win mag. is a large case for bore size. Generally speaking you will find powders that fill the case nearly full will work best a couple of my favorite powders for it are IMR 4831 and IMR 4350. 0 -
H4831SC has worked for me for 29 years, along with 180gr Nosler particians. Put alot of elk in the freezer, and I've never lost a one.
For what it's worth.

another vote for any of the 4831's.... and I doubt that H-4831- SC was around 29 years ago, but it would have been nice if it had....... 0 -
I looked for a powder that would work well in "most" of my loads. An "all in one" if you will.
I am looking for decent accuracy, not benchrest accuracy. I found that IMR 4895 will work with my 223, 243, 270 and my .30 30.
I helps reduce mistakes if you think like me and might want to expand your inventory of cartridges you load.
I use Unique only for my pistol loads.
I try to keep it simple, and yet my loads work very well for target shooting and hunting.
I use the cheaper bullets for target practice, but sight in a premium hunting bullet for game.
Good luck on finding the best combination!

RL22 with a 180gr pill, they go together like peas and carrots.
74gr rl22 seems to be the sweet spot in the ones I have loaded for.0
