.308 Load test
I sitched from 168grn to 175grn Matchkings. I needed to work up a load for my DPMS LR.308 so I worked up a bunch of loads for it and hit the range. The brass was all prepped the same:
Twice fired Federal GMM
Full length sized on a Redding small base die
Trimmed to 2.007"
Primer pocket cleaned
Flash hole deburred
Case mouth chamfered and deburred
CCI #34 primers
No neck work
175grn Sierra BTHP Matchkings loaded to mag length
Five shot groups at 100yds(one group I measured four, trigger jerk).
LedSled DFT
Powders used:
H335-W748-IMR4064-IMR4895-H4350-Varget
The stray shot is from sighting in the scope.
And the one the I know I jerked the trigger on:
And the rifle:
I just figured some of you guys might get a kick out of the results. I also know the test isn't valid untill it's repeated and that will be soon. The rifle seems to be okay with various loads, there is only one group that is terrible and a couple would have been real good with the mysterious flyer removed(probably just my trigger pull, the trigger is stock 8lb DPMS).

It's obvious your rifle wants to shoot. As you mentioned, repeatability is key. Looks like you have some real winners with some of your loads. Good luck.

space your rings out further, there is too much unsupported scope hanging off both ends. Scopes will flex under recoil and skew your results.
run the tight groups again and see if they produce similar results.0 -
Is the flyer your first shot? Flyers in groups fired from an auto-loader are common on the first shot. Generally because the first round is chambered operating the action by hand and the rest by the rifle cycling itself. When the rifle cycles a round itself after a shot the round enters the chamber with more force than cycling it by hand and can actually shift the bullet forward closer to the rifling making the C.O.L longer than the round chmbered by hand. I have notice this quite often in my AR-10 and M1A until I started using a Lee Factory Crimp die on my handloads for them. 0
