Silhouette shooting
I am interested in beginning some handgun silhoutte shooting just for my own enjoyment, not competition. What combination of handgun, caliber and scope would any of you recommend?

Can someone tell me about this a little, is it off a bench, rifle weight limits? Range. Also if any happen around Des Moines IA, I'd like to check them out.
Thanks

OK, than that is going to be handled by the NRA, go to their website and there will be information of clubs in and around your area that will be holding matches.
Even if you do not have a gun to shoot you should still make it to a match. They are great fun to watch and silhouette shooters are some of the best poeple around. Show up to a match, look around, ask questions, make friends. More than likly someone will hand you a rifle and 5 rounds of ammo so you can try a stage. That is what happened to me the first time I watched a handgun match. One of the guys handed me a Freedom Arms M-83 Field grade 44 Mag 10" that had a Burris 3-12X32 mounted on it. I ran 5 for 5 on the rams at 200 and I have been hooked ever sence.0
