30-30 lever action powder

As I have just read that hornady will be selling their FTX bullets, I am wondering what powder would be best for reloading to factory specs?

It's doubtful that you will be able to buy their proprietary powder or blend, if that's what they use, as so many do these days, but-- If you e-mail them you might get some recommended loads using powders available to the handloader.

3031 0r 4895 is good for 30-30.

Ditto Perryw. It's hard to beat 3031 in a 30-30. I've had some surprisingly good results with H-380 also.

Read my comments in "lEVER GUN RELOADING" thread. "Tanya" stated that when the FTX bullets are released their load data will be also.

suggest 32.0 gr of ww748 or 30.0 gr h335 with 170gr bullet. used these loads for years. bad new on deer inside of 100 yards.

Absolutely , always crimp 30-30 Win. if using tubular magazine Rifle !!

I have the best results with a roll crimp, read the instructions with your dies, they will explain the procese.

how do you crimp the shell and how can you tell when it is done right?

Spend a few bucks on a Lee factory crimp die, and make sure to seat the bullet so that the canalure is at the case mouth. Case length must be consistant also.
