Help with cracked necks
I have been reloading 270 wsm cartridges with 53 grs. of Accurate XMR 4350 powder, large standard rifle primers, once fired brass and 150 gr sst hornady bullets. I am shooting them out of a Browning BAR. The problem I am having is the necks are splitting on some of the cases. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I loaded for .223 wssm for a while and I expeirienced some issues with necks cracking. I think some of it is do to the neck of the wsm/wssm cases being so thick.
I would think with the necks being so thick that after very few sizings and firings they would work harden pretty fast.
I would suggest annealing the cases to see if that stops the cracking. It did for me
Best of luck and let us know what you figure out.0 -
They need to be annealed, plain and simple.......
Did the once fired brass come from your chamber ?0 -
Some was fired in my rifle, but most was not. I will now do a search on annealing. 0
