243 deer load
34gr IMR3031 seirra 100gr bthp My girlfriend shot one today in the neck. Punched a hole the size of a 20ounce bottle cap but didnt ruin hardly any meat 3/4in past the hole. Dropped that deer fast. Didnt move didnt wiggle. Get one of those old deer roasts out unfreeze it and try it out. I dont think you will be disappointed

Here is a perfect example of why to NEVER use any loading data from someone on a public forum. 1000gr bullet indeed!. 0 -

I fixed it. I'm sure a 1000gr bullet would do a little more damage than that 100gr did.
thanks for pointing out my flaws[:(] I never paid attention in typing.

Speer's 105 Gr. spitzer is a deer killing son of a gun !! 0 -
This cartridge is why I learned the most important thing about shooting an animal is bullet placement. I was told, by a notable gunsmith(who was backed on this by my great uncle, a retired gunsmith), that all I needed to kill deer was an 85 gr. spitzer. Just hit him behind the shoulder. Nine deer later that formula has proven itself out. I wouldn't choose the bullets I used in the past, but when I hear the .243 can't kill a deer I can certainly tell you differently. Good job to the GF on the one shot kill. 0 -
I've used 105 gr Speer roundnose for years in my 6mm. Regardless of what you heard, they shoot plenty flat and add a little more to the impact of the bullet. I also like the smaller hole, I shot my doe a little forward and into the shoulders this year. Unlike, the others at camp who did it with the "big" guns, not that much meat damage.

100 gr Sierra spitzer with a bunch of H-4350, and CCI 200's always worked good for me back before it got turned into a .284 Winchester... and it don't kill critters any deader than the .243 Winchester did [:)] 0
