The throat on these was originally cut for a long round nose bullet and I personally have had the best luck with same; a 160 gr RN by Hornady or Speer over a medium to slow powder, 4895, 4320, and 4350 all do well for me- that would get you in the ballpark.
I've also, paradoxically, done quite well with 100 grain bullets.0 -
William A Harland,
There is usually a ton of information in any reloading book on these rifles. Depending on which model you have(how old) you may or may not want to reach the maximum loads listed in the book.
Another place for good data(to compare against a book) is www.reloadersnest.com
My own favorite load is 41 gr. of H4350ext. behind a 140 gr. bullet, Nosler or Berger. Same load for a 140 gr. Hornady.
I also like using 40 gr. of H4895ext behind a 120 gr. bullet.0 -
what do you mean by "custom"?? has it been worked by a gunsmith? new barrel? etc? 0 -

Does that mean it has an aftermarket barrel? or is it simply a sporterized military barrel?0
