Funny thing is my 300WM only likes 150 gr pills.

    I've tried 168, 175, 180 and 190 with no luck.

    tried 4350, (H and IMR) RL19, RL2, and H1000.

I just use accubonds and forget it.

    175, 178 BTHP, 180 Nosler BT's, or 208 gr Amax...with H4831, H1000, or Retumbo.

I have not reloaded in 30 years (Ive saved all my brass).Duplicate Fed GM match ,I shot a box last week setting up a Win mod 70 supergrade in 300wm with the boss system, I was able to shoot a 5 shot 1 1/4" 200 yard group with 3 touching, those 190gr sierra match kings will do the job !

180 grain Nosler AccuBond with 74.5 Grain Reloader22 and Federal LRPrimer. Not the hottest load, but works well in my rifle. I'm a hunter ,not a paper puncher.

I've shot Nosler 180gr Paticians over 75grs H4831SC with Winchester WLR primers for elk for years. You should start with a couple grains lighter and work up to be on the safe side. Been shooting it in my 300 Win for almost 40 years, and it still holds .75" at 100yds.

    travrler,

    Welcome back!

The .300 Win. Mag. is a superb cartridge and will be perfect for nearly any hunting available in the U.S. or Canada.

"Would you consider this to LITE of a bullet for the 300wm?"

Yes. The case capacity is better suited to the heavier bullets.

"I am considering the 180 Spitz BTSP or the 200 GS SP."

Yes, those two and a multitude of others available from virtually every manufacturer. The Nosler Partitions are tops along with the Berger Match VLD bullets. These VLD bullets have proven to be not only superbly accurate but deadly on game. Berger has a video on their website and there is a short explanation in the written text. I have used the 175, 185, 190 and the 210 grain VLDs with great success for hunting.

    Best.

    travrler,

As nn noted the case has much better results with heavier bullets. I use 210 Berger and 208 Hornady A-Max bullets for target out of my .300 WM. For Game I worked up one load using 180 gr. Accubonds. This is quite a load for the .300 WM, as it can achieve well over 3100 fps using H1000. The Nosler website has 70 gr. of H4350 for 3100 and 75.5 gr. of RE-22 for just over 3100.

All in all an outstanding cartridge...if you like/can handle recoil.

I would have to disagree with that. I went with all WCC (A-191) for it's heavier construction.

I printed the E-Mail for my records ( Now you all have had it )

I will work up some loads after deer season and let you know what the rifle thinks.

Maybe a new barrel would change your issues,,, Just some thing to think about. 165 and 180 grain bullets are so worth it.

mine is a target gun and is built for the 168gr. I have run 180 and 150 and both do good.

My Ruger likes the Nosler 220gr. spitzers, but my TRG likes the 210 Bergers.
One of my favorite varmint loads is made using Speer 125gr. TNTs over 74.2gr of 4350; not much more you can do with that one due to the bullet "poofing" itself if you go any faster.
