44-40 reloading
can i load .430 diemeter 180gr jacketed sp in a 44-40 rifle. i know it generally calls for a .427 diameter. does anyone else reload 44-40. the rifle is a cimmaron yellowboy.

I would load lead bullets then it would not be as hard on the barrel . also a modern made REPRO barrel may just be set up for .429 bullets. you need to slug the bore. 0 -
thanks perry but would it be safe to do that like i said is my question, im asking for another guy and he wants to you these for deer hunting but we arent sure of the safety of this bullet. 0 -
If the loaded round will chamber then a lead bullet is ok to use even if it is up to .003-.004 over size. I would not do this with Jacketed bullets however a Lead bullet makes a very good deer cartridge. 0
