45 caliber help
I was given a box of bullets and can't find any load data for it. I can only find data for JSWC.
Does anybody have the COL, Min and Max data for 45 ACP using TiteGroup powder?

Here is data from hodgen website for a 200 gr LSWC 45 acp. This will be safe with a 185 gr
200 GR. CAST LSWC Hodgdon Titegroup .451" 1.225" 4.8 877 13,400 CUP 5.4 957 16,800 CUP0 -
Hello the 185 grain has a short nose and the 200 grain has a long nose so COL will be different I suggest about .020 of the shoulder of bullet stick out the case mouth if you load to 1.225 you might have some of the Lube exposed 0 -
I loaded some 185 grain cast bullets at 5.1 of TightGroup. It shot very well at a 50 yard slow fire NRA target. I was able to stay in the mid 90's slow fire with that load. Make sure you taper crimp the cases for a firm bullet hold without roll crimping the case into the bullet. I leave about 1/3 of the ring above the bullet lube out of the case for positive feeding. The 185 has a short nose and sometimes seating them deeper will result in jamming. 0 -
Is the Dillon Square Deal a roller crimp or a taper crimp? 0 -
A taper crimp will be just that a very slight taper I like to crimp mine to . 469 at the case mouth + or - .002 My suggestion is run the crimp die down one full turn from where you now have it then Take an EMPTY cartridge and cycle through the crimp die if your die is a roll crimp it will have a rolled rim inward . I don't know which type of die you have. . Don't try this with a bullet in the case because you will not be able to see the different between the two types. 0 -
It unfortunatly appears to be a roll crimp. I would think Dillon would know better. I could be wrong. Just in case I'm not , I crimp very gently, just enough to remove the bell + a few thousandths more, so as not to shorten the case enough to cause misfires.When using a LEE die in a turret press, I do just as Karl said, as that die has a taper crimp. 0 -
many bullseye shooters here use there dillon sq deal to also crimp dillion like lee use a modified "roll crimp" poor term too use but that is what they call it IMO
I experimented with my lee bullet sear die on some 40 S&W brass and found that it does taper crimp up to a point then it rolls them
so it is possible to taper with the dillon and lee dies but you may not be able to taper to say .468 without rolling the mouth over
Lee makes a taper die that if you adjust it down it will do the exact same thing that their bullet seat dies with a "modified roll" crimp will do taper to a point then once you have adjusted it down passed that point it will roll it..
I think the taper crimp die may have more taper than their standard bullet seat die does with the "modified roll" crimp built into them
I bought a taper crimp die for 45 but use the bullet seating die for 40S&W and have had no promblem0 -
