This is my pet 130gr load, 59gr H4831SC Win LRP & 130gr Nosler Patician, worked for Jack O'Connor, works great for me.

Using somebody else's pet loads will just waste your time. Your rifle will tell you what loads it 'likes' to shoot, and will reward you with good groups and uniform velocities. My old .270 'liked' Hornady and Barnes bullets, for example, but I could not get it to shoot Nosler bullets well. Your Savage may put Noslers all in the same hole. Varying one component at a time and sticking with the 'winners' will lead you to your rifle's best performance.

Thanks mtnlover, good advice. I was just looking for a starting place as the 270 is uncharted waters to me. Never even knew anybody that had one. This one turned up at a local pawn shop and caught my eye.

    reddnek,

Good choice of rifle and caliber. There are many many combinations to choose from when reloading but I have personally preferred the Nosler 140 gr. Accubond. I went with 57.5 gr. of H4831SC and put the bullet into the lands .005" As mentioned there are a lot of combinations for this to work but this is the one I had both the best accuracy and velocity with. Mileage may vary with your rifle. -good luck

The only load I have for 270 is for a 90-grain hollow point. It's deadly accurate IF you keep mv below 3000.

I just now sat down from loading .270 rounds for a friends Savage 110 with a 24" barrel. I worked up the loads Saturday and when it was over, this particular rifle liked 54.3grns of H4350 with 130grn Nosler Ballistic Tips, 2.530" trim and 3.340"OAL. It was shooting five shot groups under 1" at 100yds. I tried various loads with IMR4064, IMR4350, H4831, H4831SC and H4350. Like on of the other fellas said, each rifle has it's own load that it likes. The only way to find out is to test a number of different combinations and see.
