45-70 405gr load info needed

I have a supply of 405gr lead and need a load for 300 meter range load. Not too heavy. I don't even have the dies yet so I would ask for advice on the load, powder and die brand. I will be shooting the cowboy 200 & 300 meter range.

  Blackpowder or smokeless? Are the 405s flat based or hollow based?

  Start with 12gr IMR Trail Boss, 13gr is the max, it's a mild, fun to shot load. Have fun, and don't forget to put a good roll crimp on these if your shooting them in a lever gun. From 2006 IMR loading manual.

  All bullet and powder companies have web sites - with data - google them up - read loading manuals - never use data from strangers on a forum without credible confirmation - know what you are doing!

  For what gun? A trapdoor? Lever action? Ruger or modern bolt gun?
