    7/8 to 1 1/8oz #9 shot, at IIRC 1200fps or less
1 1/8oz #9 3 dram equiv is the "standard" load, but a lot of guys load them lighter/slower to reduce the cumulative recoil.
When my wife and I were activly shooting skeet, we used a 12ga 1oz load at 1150fps

Trap shooters primarly use the standard of 1 1/8oz #7 1/2 shot at 1200fps (again the same 1 1/8 3 dram equiv load, but with a slightly larger shot size).

IOW their using the same shells as you are, their just that much better at the game.

They are better. I have just started and was going to get some info. I did go 97/100 this past weekend. Problem was there were 17 the 100/100. I have to tighten up.

I shoot reloads; 1oz. in the 12ga. in federal paper hulls, standard loads in the others. Those good guys shoot factory shells as part of sponsorships."two @ low 8".

I will pay more attention to what they are shooting next trip. I just wonder if the 8 or 9 shot would help? Seams like you would be throwing more pellets.

    more pellets = denser pattern

I shoot 12ga 7/8oz reloaded with reclaimed shoot (all sizes from BB to 9's) average 23/25 with the occasional 24/25 and only 1-25/25 in 12+ months of shooting skeet

I dust the targets but miss big at least once a round it's all in my head LOL!!!
