.451 or .452
I would like to start reloading lead cast for my 45 ACP. Bullet prices for jacketed bullets is just to high. To get 500 200gr Horn XTPs it would cost me 107$. To get 500 lead cast would cost me only 67$ Big difference. Problem is i can only find lead cast with a diameter of .452. Normally my XTPs or Gold dots i buy have a diameter of .451 My question is... Can i safely shoot .452 diameter bullets out of my 45 ACP when the diameter should be .451. Im just not sure. Haven't gotten into lead cast yet. Thanks

Lead should be .452, .001 over jacketed bullets. 0 -
+1 on Brier-49 .If you have under-size lead bullets they will not seal the bore well and resulting BLOW-BY will cause sever leading in the bore. go with the .452 or better yet get a H&G 68 bevel base or LYMAN 45266 four cavity mold block and cast some bullets from wheel weights . use a STAR lubersizer. and you will be good to go for years. might cost some to get started but the way price is going on bullets you will never regret doing it sooner rather then later. for lead bullets in the 45 ACP, the .452 bullet diameter is the correct size. 0 -
I got bulk Hornady 230 gr FMJs from Grafs for a real good price a couple weeks ago, my total bill was 155.61 for 1000 bullets.
Wouldn't you know, they're out of stock now, just getting ready to order another batch....bummer.0
