bullet runout?#4
Ok i think this is the last question on this subject that i have and everyone thanks for the quick replies and the info.
The rifle im currently shooting is grouping at less than .5 MOA at three hundred yards. Should i even fool with checking for runout or just leave well enough alone? I do plan on extending my ranges hopefully up to 1000 yards someday.But right now everything is under 500 yards but more in the 300 to 400 yard range.

Sounds like you are doing a lot of things correctly. However just like tuning a race car it is all a matter of time and equipment on how FAR you want to go . Just my $.02 once you get small groups there are always somethings you can do to make them smaller how much time do you want to spend and how much equipment do you want to buy[:p] 0 -
I always thought if you bought a top-end seater die it was a given. What kind of gun and what other loading operations are you doing? Are you full length sizing or neck sizing? Have you dialed in seating depth? Are you using a sliding-chamber type seating die? You might be able to whittle that .5 down to a .3 without spending coin on such a special tool. 0 -
Are you turning the necks? if not, you could clean them up a bit and use bushing neck dies, that may bring it down,..but probably not much. 0
