1892 reloading 44 40

I have an 1892 Winchester SRC 44 40 that was made in 1908. I want to work up some loads but do not know where to start. I have compiled reloading data that ranges from low pressue ,low velocity loads to high pressure , and high velocity loads. How far can I push my gun. I have heard that the action is very strong however should I go easy on it since it is 100 years old? I would like to load for deer if possible. Any info/reccomendations/load data/guidance would be very helpful. This is my first levergun and I do not want to ruin the gun. Please help. Any advise offered would be wonderful.

  The guy I got my 1911 vintage '92 from was in the habit of loading it heavily, but then he did not shoot it a lot, it was mostly for close range hunting.
  
  If you can round up a copy of Ken Waters' Pet Loads for .44-40, he lists separate loads for Group 1 rifles like the 1873 and the stronger Group 2 rifles including the 1892.

  Take a look at 8 grains Unique and a 200-215 grain lead bullet.
