Years ago I shot up nearly 2 gallon jars of red dot with mistery primers and 230 gr cast. Worked fine but not real clean. I think the Lyman cast bullet handbook has a load for red dot in 45acp.

No, but I have with a 200 gr SWC. No issues. Works fine.

Lyman 47 shows a starting load of 4.0 and a max. of 5.5 with the 185 cast, but I don't have experience with either. As always , start low and proceed with caution. FWIW.

I tried it a little bit in 45Colt not too bad. Promo powder costs less than Red Dot and is basically the same,Alliant people told me I could use that in place of Red Dot in handguns. Already usedit for shotgun works great there.

I am a third generation RD user. My Grandpa started using RD right after WWII. He was an avid trapshooter as was my Dad.

    I started loading RD as a kid in 1957. Oh crap, I'm getting old! [:D] [:D] [:D]
