218 Mashburn B
Anyone got any pet loads or info on this ol' varmit getter? I got 3 different loads from The Reload Bench using IMR-4227 & IMR-4198. Had presure problems with the 45gr SP bullet and 16.3gr IMR-4227. Gun is a large action Martini with Douglas barrel. Thanks in advance.

Captn, I have the same setup with simular problems.Ifound an old Handloader Magazine with an article about the 218 Mashburm bee (October 2002 ).Problem Solved !! most accurate load they had 17.5 of H-4198 , 50 grain V-max and 7 1/2 remington primer . .185 !! Mine shot a 5 shot group that I can almost cover with a non-filtered Camel cigarette. I call that "dead nuts" Get the magazine, as they give some other loads that might work for you . regards ,637e 0 -
637e,
Thank you for the info, I've got a pound of H4198 setting right here, I think I'll give it a try. Did you figure out why the presure is so high with the IMR load? I think it might be because it's a compresed load, I don't know. Thanks again for the help.

Captn, I'm too retarded to figure that kind of stuff out !! I've concluded that guns are like woman , they're all the same but they are all different and MUST be treated differently !! For best results with either ,do accordingly .I have a 264 Win mag that gave me fits with high pressure with all bullet weights and loads . I bought a box of old Speer bullets at a flea market for next to nothing. No more problems .All five holes were touching !! "Dead Nuts".Answer = old Speer's are .263 and everything else is .264 . Maybe bullet shape is putting you too close to the rifleing ?? i.e. different orgive. Try a different shape bullet in the same weight . Just a thought ?? regards ,637e 0
