    Well personally i would go one better and ten cheaper. Getting into cast bullets you can cast a thousand in a 4-6 hrs. (double cavity) saves you hundreds of dollars and are funner. plus it makes cleaning the bore easier you can make them from .308-.311 Diameter and make them shoot fast or slow. [:D]

    In trying to get these myself, I've been successful at one place, and they're now out. It's my understanding that these are not being made anymore, not sure of the reason....

    I'm loading for my M1, will have to go to a slightly heavier bullet at some point, but haven't started researching yet. I've got about 300 bullets left in the 150s.

    Edit: look for Hornady 3037 bullets, pricey, but potentially available. Sierra 2115 bullets are discontinued.

    Grafs has a new production M2 clone. Reasonably priced, but not as cheap as the surplus.

    I may have to check that out. Only problem I have with Grafs is the 7.7% sales tax I have to pay. [xx(]

    Wideners also has a 145 gr bullet of the M80 profile for a reasonable price.

    I know Wideners all too well, it seems that I spend most of my reloading budget there. [:D] Good people and good prices. I'm looking at their M80 bullet for my M1A.

    I'm looking to duplicate an M2 load. I did some google searchs yesterday and found a place that carried a Yugo bullet that looked just like a M2. I'm thinking it was an Igman. Only problem is that their homepage says they are closed until Sept. 1. The prices were too good to be true as well-cheaper than pulled USGI M2 bullets- so I'm assuming they are no longer around. My search also came up with the same bullet at Midway, but that isn't in stock and the old page said that it had been discontinued by the manufacturer.[V] With the surplus M2 bullets gone I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that someone will make a clone of them. Maybe Wideners can add that to their mil-spec line. I'm still going to look around a bit but I think my creek is turning into a river.[:0][B)]

    Wideners has the Privi M80 145gr $249.00 for 2K including shipping.
    They also carry the Hornady 150gr FMJBT which are more money.

    The surplus has dried up. Way back Bill Clinton banned the reuse of military tear down components to be used to make new ammo or sell as reloading supplies and required a signed contract to insure it.

    There was so much in the pipeline it took until 2007 to sell the existing supply from before that new policy.

    Like many things we assumed would exist always because they had always existed these are going the way of the dodo bird.

    If you intend to shoot in 2020 I suggest you buy what you will need now to load for that year.

    I've been working on a round that will be close to the M2 round as well, I'm currently loading 45 grains of IMR 4064 with the 150 grain bullet, and almost can't tell the difference when shooting them together. Maybe see if it works for you....

    Hey, thanks a TON for the link to the bulk bullets! I was getting kind of concerned about getting any more, so I ordered up 1000!!! I thought that they looked ok, but it's real hard to tell without having one in your hand.

    Please let me know what you think of the bullets when you get them. I almost didn't put the link up and kept it as my little "secret"-I've got it in my favorites. I've done several searches this weekend trying to find cheap, decent 150 grain fmj's for plinking. I hope this is one of the times where a little effort pays off! Oh yea, is your recipe in military or commercial brass? I may have to load up a few and try it out. I'm chomping at the bit to load up a few for the garand. I've just started reloading this year and so far been sticking to 8mm mauser. I have some old US m2 ammo with corrosive primers that I'm going to pull the bullets on. No collector value to it. Worth more as components these days. In addition to looking for m2 bullets I'm also thinking of stocking up on US military 30-06 unfired brass. That's still not hard to find but when it goes it will probably be fast, just like the bullets were. Especially when comparing prices of that to new brass.

    Also, my recipe uses both HXP brass and Lake City. I used the Lake City cases that I've fired personally, I've heard that caution should be used when buying once fired LC brass as it may have been fired in a machine gun, and, having a bigger chamber than a rifle, is a lot fatter on the expansion than rifle brass, which can cause overworking during resizing and possible premature case failure. I've not noticed any difference between loads using the HXP brass or the LC brass.

    BTW, where can we get this non-fired surplus brass?

    Thanks, I'd really appreciate that. Nothing better than seeing a good pic. Two places that I know have unfired brass are the first two links I posted at the top of the thread. I think Pat's is the cheaper of the two. I've never delt with him but I've only heard good things about him. Never heard anything bad about the 2nd link either. Often it seems that the once fired LC goes for about as much on the auction side as the unfired. This is starting to become our own chat room. Lots of good info being shared.
