silenced .44mag ammo suggestions
Hey guys, I am picking up a HandR handi-rifle in .44mag. It has a threaded barrel and a suppressor.
I would like to know if you guys happen to know a few good loads for a subsonic .44mag load. I am also open to a few .44spl suggestions also.
I will deer hunt with this rifle as it is legal for Mississippi's new primitive weapon law. I will just go with full house loads there. However, I want to be able to use it for small game also totally quiet.
The combo is so cool. There is a video of a small framed 6year old shooting my gun. The sound on the video is only of the slug hitting the target. I can't wait!
Thanks for the help. If you want, you can just refer me to a specific manual or site that has the load.

The best way to do that is to use a very heavy bullet with a light powder charge to keep the speeds under 1000 FPS. Think about a Hornady 300 Grain XTP over the top of 6.5 to 7.0 Grains of Trailboss. That load will put you around 800 to 850 FPS but will still have a ton of down range energy. 0 -
cool, that gives me an excuse to try some trailboss. I have wanted to try some downloads on some of my higher power rifles like 30-06 or .308win.
Do you happen to know what the speed of sound is in feet per second on a standard day? That will give me a more firm idea of where to keep the loads at.0 -
Here is a bit of info on loads for Trailboss:

Around 1,100 FPS, stay below 1,000 and you'll be just fine0 -
I used to load .433 round lead balls in .44 mag cases with a charge that was .2 gr. higher than whatever charge left the ball stuck in the barrel. I seated the ball all the way in the case, flush with the mouth. In my 20" Rossi 92 there's no need for a suppressor. Never chronographed them but they fly slow enough to see. 0 -
I load suppressed guns to 1050 fps and use the biggest bullet I can get. 0 -
I load the Hornady 300 grain XTP over 9 grains of HP38 for about 1000 to 1050 fps. Works great in a suppressed Ruger 77/44. 0 -
these are all great ideas. I may be able to justify getting a chrono [:D] and maybe even my Ruger deerfield semi44mag threaded! 0 -
22hipower...how noisy is the suppressed 77/44? 0 -
picked up the combo and took it out yesterday. WOW. Thats all I can say. With full house .44mag rounds, it soulds like a .22LR!!!! With subsonic .44spl defense loads, it sounds like a pellet gun! lol The sound of the slug traveling through the air is louder than the gun! I can hear the hammer drop. lol I have a new addiction, and it is suppressors!
Highly recomend these. I have used some old crappy ones from back in the day, and this is nothing like it. 100% more quiet.0
