Magnum primers are loaded to give a slightly stronger flash and may or may not have a harder /thicker Cup to withstand higher pressure limits of magnum cartridges. Winchester makes primers that are marked both standard or magnum. That said I would reduce the load on any near max load any time I changed Primer types or brand of cases. You may have some misfires with magnum primers if you have a very light hammer spring.

Check some of the older manuals and you might find a load for Bluedot and 125 grain slugs. This is a slow powder for the 9 and you might find it interesting to shoot?[8D]

    Thanks.

Was looking forward to the alternatives. Loaded up with Blue Dot, happen to have a lot of that stuff on hand, loaded with just over the minimum suggested load, way under max. Loaded 3 and fired them out back at the trees stump I use for that sort of stuff. Nice load, not a bad flash, not harsh, primers not flat, no signs of high pressure.

Now if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong with my 7 X 57 Mauser and I'll be happy. Seems no matter what I do, I can't get my reloads to shoot worth schit, best group is no better than 4' at 100. Factory ammo out of that rifle will go 1 1/2, easy. Tried different weigh bullets, primers, seating, they are the correct to the best of my ability to measure them out. I also reload for my Swiss 7.5 and 6.5 Swede and both of them like my reloads just fine, especially the Swede.

    AJ:
In Ken Water's Pet loads under the 7x57 updates he shows his most accurate load ,in a remington 700 classic, as a 160 grain Siera Spz BT 50 grains H-450 remington case remington 91/2M primer amd loaded to 3.070 in length.

Looks like he tried about 60 different loads plus the factory stuff.

I've always found him to be a reliable place to start.

Please use all the normal safety precautions if you please![8D]
