I can't hit chit.......
[:(!]...with a pistol. I have a Ruger SBH .41 Mag and an Iver Johnson Trailsman. I USED to be a good shooter, but lately I couldn't shoot the windows outta telephone booth if I was inside with the door closed. I've recently had Lasik surgery and still have a tad bit astigmitism in my right (shootin') eye. While not crystal clear I can still make out the sights. I've trised loose and tite grips, breathing, stance, everything I can think of. Anyone got some practical suggestions? My riffle shooting is deadly with both open sights and optics. Back 20 years ago I easily earned my Expert Marksman medal in the Navy. Hell, I was asked to sub on a pistol team the Chief had that much confidence in me.

If I had to hazard a guess, this would be it;
Me thinks due to eye changes you are spending too much time aiming and not enough time squeezing the trigger......
Align the front sight, keep it in focus, squeeze the trigger. When eyes start to go (I am down to 20-20 and feel blind) I found my aiming took more time than shooting. It took me a while to adapt to diminishing clarity of target and front sight.0 -
+1 on Bpost also If it has been some time since you shot a pistol Please don't take this the wrong way but get a friend "good friend " to load the pistols for you load some chambers and leave some blank. Now have him watch you and try shooting both pistols See if the barrel dips down when you pull the trigger on a blank chamber. It might be that you are now FARSIGHTED if you are older you may need reading glasses if this is the case then you can't focus on the sights like you once did Remember the relationship between the front and rear sight is the most important part of pistol shooting the pivot point is your wrist but in rifles it is your shoulder. Much Much easier to move your wrist then your whole arm and PULL OFF a shot .Also try shooting a pistol if possible with a red dot sight they work well as your eyes get older.[:0][:0]because the red dot is on or near the same focal plane as the target. Perry, I've been doing the spent case thing on meself with the wheelgun. I got the trigger squeeze down, so it seems. Maybe ot's the Ruger amd not me. Probably time to get a S&W 57.[:D]
I'm gonna go to the range this afternoon and practice some more. I'll let ya know how it turns out.0 -
GET DOWN, ALRIGHT !!!!!![:D] I can shoot again!!! The front site tip works. Trigger control. I was able to actually hit the target and get some good groupings. Now I gotta go role some more and get some more practice.
