weatherby vangaurd worth upgrading?
I have a Weatherby Vangaurd in 300 Wby mag I finally saved up the extra money to buy a stock and have a Krieger barrel put on it but what I want to know is the Howa action worth it? Or would I be better of selling this rifle and using the money to build another rifle also in 300 wby?

You will not be able to recover your expenses but is it worth it to you? Your money will be better spent elswhere IMHO. 0 -
csjs1194,
Under normal circumstances I would say that if you are chasing accuracy, do this. However, While accurate, the .300 Wby Mag is not known for Stellar accuracy. It can be made to do so though, but, you must get a gunsmith who knows how to get it from a Wby case.
Typically, Weatherby's are known for velocity. Bullets seated way off the lands, and given what would be a hot charge if they were in or near the lands. By giving the bullet a running start they can up the velocity. This in my mind isn't conducive to accuracy. However, there are people who have posted here that have said they can get 1/2" accuracy out of a three shot group. I have shot numerous Weatherby's and have gotten the typical 1.5"ish groups. I then turn around and shoot my most accurate rifles and get sub 1/2". This tells me that Weatherby's are doing what they are asked to do and that is to produce a hypervelocity load that will work as intended, to knock game flat. 1.5" is about all the real hunting accuracy you are going to need.
So to further answer your question, you need to ask yourself this: Am I chasing accuracy or speed? You already have the speed unless you want more by adding more barrel length. But if you want more accuracy I would pursue a different venue for that.
