HS Precision stock problem
Hello all.
I recently bought a HS Precision Silhouette stock for a Rem 700. However I am having a problem where once the magazine well has a round or two in it, closing the bolt fails to put a round into the chamber. Basically the bolt contacts the base of the shell but can't budge it out of the magazine well.
I didn't have this problem when using the factory stock, and I can't see anything that should prevent this from working properly. Does anyone have any ideas or ever experienced this?
Thanks, Dave

bassassassin007,
This may sound silly but did you screw the magazine box onto the bottom of the action before installing the barreled action into the stock on top of the follower and spring? Or, is the spring installed on the follower backwards?

For sure I didn't screw anything. I have a few Rem 700s. I have changed the stocks on all of them and I have never needed to screw anything in. Nor have I removed the spring from the follower to put it in backwards. Generally I turn the action over onto the scope mounts, install the magazine box then put in the follower/spring. Once these are in place I put the stock on and tighten the screws. If this is wrong and there is a better procedure someone please tell me.

[8D]--Just some random thoughts--With the INSTALLED TORQUED action in the stock and EMPTY, can you---
--Easily depress the Mag spring follower and does it return to it's upper stops, uninhibited ?--the SPRING may not be FULLY engaged in its base plate keeper--
--If all thats OK are you using handloads that may have COA too long-
--Maybe finally, are you sure that the magazine is completely engaged in its action recess, before stock installation--check-it out
