I just purchased a .44 mag Super Black Hawk with 7 1/2" barrel what I'm looking for is a load a bit hotter than a 44 special but not a wrist breaker like the mag . I want it for deer hunting. I used to have a good load for this purpose but my sisters threw away all my dads reloading data when he died and no way do I trust my memory

    Cooch,

As much as I appreciate firing full powder loads, over a period of time they can wear your hand out and start a case of the shakes. Using .44 Special loads will extend my shooting time and some loads prove to be extremely accurate.

Here are some loads to work with:

    Some heavy Special loads:

    A large selection:

(sorry, tinyurl is down right now)

    Best.

I shoot my 44 magnum quite a bit.

I prefer 225 and 240 grain jacketted hollow points. I do not load at the top end - no reason to. Just wearing on the gun and you. Yes, fullhouse 44 mag rounds DO WEAR on a pistol, regardless of brand.

Pay CLOSE attention to double loading these cases, you will only do it once. TRIPLE check your charged cases BEFORE you move on to the next step.

Thanks for the responses...I have been reloading for almost 20 years so I know that special feeling that comes with double loads and that wonderfull feeling in your gut that comes with squibs.

    Keep them coming.

I shoot a lot of medium loads of 8.5 gr Unique with a 255 lead swc in 44 mag case. It is in the 850 fps range.
