I feel silly dry practicing

My house is built like a maze with several short halls and lots of corners. I've gone thru the house and taped colored index cards on the walls in various places. So, with an empty gun and empty magazines I practice "engaging" targets" while saying "pow pow", "gotcha, ya one-eyed prairie varmint" and reloading while moving behind "cover". I dunno, feels silly. One thing I know for sure though : if any colored index cards try to break into my house they are in BIG trouble.....................

  well i leave out the "pow,pow", but i do allot of dry firing, and reloads, i have loaded a bunch of dummy nickel cases for weight, i loaded them nickel because i have no "live" ammo in nickel cases, along with having them in a labeled container

  "...one eyed prairie varmint?" I have a hard time believing that a jackalope with an eyepatch is going to take over your neighborhood, let alone your house....
  Don't feel stupid. verbalizing or not, you are practicing. That is in itself the best thing you can do when not actually shooting. Think of it as how much you save each time you 'hit' the target and it didn't cost you $.10.
  I tend to verbalize what I want to hit and evaulate each little scenario as to whether or not I did hit it. I think setting up like you do and running through it is a great idea. Keep up the good work.
