how would I mount a reloader on my bench?
I already have a bench made, it is 2 sheets of 3/4" plywood on top (no flex). The frame that it sits on is 2x4's. The edge of the top coincides with the edge of the frame, therefore there is no over-hang of the bench top over the frame. How would I mount the two front bolts of a Lee Turret reloader? Since I would have to go through 1.5" of plywood and about 4" of a 2x4 frame.

You need 2 (or3) seriously long lag bolts.

that's what I was thinking...I wonder if I could mount a 1/4" peice of sheetmetal to the bench top and drill and tap the holes for the front bolts of the loader rather than drilling through the benchtop and the 2x4? 0 -
I posted on this subject earlier, but, evidently, did not get posted.
Cut a 2x6, mount under the top, attached to the front and back frame and to the top.
I would highly recommend drilling through the front 2x4 frame.0 -
drill through and bolt it down. 0 -
goldeneagle76,
I'm with JustC, on this. I did the lag bolt thing and due to the constant movement of the press it works loose. Drill as far as you need to go through for a solid bolt with a giant washer on the backside followed by a lockwasher or locking nut. -good luck0 -
I use a steel plate 1/2"x6"x6" bolted to my bench top with counter sunk bolts and drilled and tapped for my RCBS press, a second one drilled and tapped for a Lyman Turret or an old Hollywood press.I use a third plate 6"x12" to mount either a 12ga or 20ga Mec press Or 16ga Lee press. Also can anchor a Lyman case trimmer. Incidently these plates make a great striking surface for an inertia bullet puller and save the bench top from scarring. 0 -
You can also use All thead, with a nut and washer on top and bottom. 0 -
I mounted each of my three presses (Dillon SDB - Lee Pro 1000 - C-H single stage)to a piece of maple that is 2 x 6 x 15 (or so) and then use Bar Clamps to secure the maple to the 2' x 4' x 1.5" plywood and Hardboard bench top. That way I can change presses at will. And I don't need a large bench
NOTHING MOVES except the loading lever0
