For 38 Special target/plinking loads Hodgdon Clays burns clean or Winchester 231 is pretty good...............

Hello IMHO the lighter the load on any powder the dirtier it will burn so my suggestion is either use a heavier charge or switch to Clays or other faster Ball type powders. Vitivori powders are very clean but cost $$$$

something else to think about, the "dirty" part of almost any powder is either carbon or graphite (another form of carbon). this acts as a lubricant, especialy in a lead bullet pistol round. If you go to a 'cleaner' powder you may get a leading problem.

Thanks for the ideas. I never thought about the carbon/graphite issue and these are lead practice rounds so that is a very good thought. Thanks again.
