    More shot is the only advantage of the 3", regardless of barrel length.

    Yeah and with some turkey loads the shot has slower velocity

    For average hunting
    I have never seen much
    use for a 3" shell, 2 3/4"
    has always served me well but
    I guess for those long shots
    people like 'em and
    I've never specifically
    hunted turkey or geese
    so maybe you need more shot.

    If you want deer slugs. In my opinion they should all quit making 3 inch shells the best slug I have ever used is the remington core lokt ultra they only come in 2 3/4" amd have a muzzle vel. of 1,900 fps and they kill wonderfully I have shot 10 deer with them and have not had to shoot any of them twice
