158 gr 38 for self defense

There are probably lost of old posts concerning this, but I'm a new member. I'm thinking of loading my S&W 637 with 158 gr for carry. I'm carring with 125 gr +P Winchester personal protection ammo. I shot a wounded deer with this ammo and found only fragments when I examined the wound channel. I'm thinking more mass at lower velocity might work better.

  My choice for the 38 spl is 158gr +p lead swc hollow point. I use these in the S&W 2" model 60 my wife carries.

  I like Winchester Super-X 158 gr. HP +P ammo. It's # X38SPD and called 'the FBI Load" because it used to be issued to their agents back in the revolver days.
