Not Impressed

I hunt elk, mule deer and antelope. I tried the nosler ballistic tips and am definitely not impressed. Seem to be very fragile bullets. Came to the conclusion that if I can not kill it with my 150 grain nosler partition loads, it can't be killed, period. I would hunt Grizzly with them.

I am not a fan of the Silver tips b/c of the coating that's on them, but I have had EXCELLENT results the Nosler BT's...very good penetration as well. That is all I use on deer.

Quartering away with a 243? The only shot I would have taken there would have been a head or neck. 243's aren't exactly known for their bone crunching ability. Still the bullet should have opened.

My hunting buddy has recorded numerous 1shot kills with his 7mm-08 Nosler balistic tips loaded by Georgia Arms.

He's got no compaints at all about the bullet or the round, as a matter of fact it is hard to get him to quit bragging on it.

the jacket shed the core and as is the case with balistic tips, the core fragmented and probably put many small holes in the organs. I have found quite a few jackets with bases from the balistic tips. I have every faith in them and have ALWAYS recoverd my game. They fly like match bullets and kill like lightning.

and 33yds after a quatering shot with a frangible bullet is NOT what I would call bullet failure.

why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
    Got Balistics?

I shoot 140 grain Ballistic Tips out of a 16" .284 XP-100 and have shot lots, and lots of critters, big and small, and never had a problem, ever...!!
Double lunged a lot of small deer with the 95 gr BT in a 6mmAI, and no problem there either....also use the 75gr Amax (close to a BT) in a 22/6mmAI and still no problems....
But then I never tried to put one from one end to the other end either.

Gun control is hitting what your aiming at.

I have run the balistic tip from stem to stern on a whitetail and it will work. The jacket will be found somewhere mid way to rear of the body. The jacket will be found without the core and only containing the base, but the harvest will be lightning quick unless you hit the animal at 50yds or less.
