45-70 load

Hey all,

I am looking for a load for the 45-70 with a 300 Gr. Nosler Partition. I have the 5th Edition Nosler manual and am limited to the 5 powders listed. I was wondering if anybody has any data using IMR3031 or IMR4320 powder? Right now I am using the IMR 4198, but would like to test the two previously mentioned powders.

  I have a 16" contender with muzzle tamer and would like the best 300 grn load for it[:)]

  You might try 28.0 gr of 2400 Pwd with the 300 gr bullet. 2400 is relatively fast burning and should work well with 16" barrel. This is not a hot load and gives 1533 fps in my 22" barrel rifle.

  try 11 grs unique.i have a 12" with muzzle tamer. i use this for silhoutte targets not hunting.
