Primer dent depths
My .38 Webley MK IV puts a noticeably deeper dent in the primers than any of my other revolvers. Is this a random variation in firing pin length, deliberate design or what? Is there something about military primers having thicker metal?

Military primers are notoriously hard, and the webley design uses a Big heavy spring as compared to colts and S&W's of its age. Webley was more concerned with the rounds going off than having a nice target trigger pull.

Hello one other thing to consider Is. A pistol like a 1911 with an inertia fireing pin will dent the primer but then the primer will push back with no resistance of the fireing pin I have seen some hot loads on both revolvers and semi auto push the primer back into the fireing pin hole . The dent on a fired case is not a valid indicator on how hard the fireing pin hit."PRAISE THE HARD-BALL GUN" 0
