This Weatherby SVM is a shooter (517 yard pics)
I'm very pleased with this Weatherby SVM chambered in .243. This is an out of the box rifle, with a little trigger work. On the target below you'll see two different groups. The first group is the one with the X's over the holes and the second group has the O's around them. The first group measures 2 1/4" with one flyer that happened to hit the bull. I adjusted the scope for the second group and shot semi-rapid fire on that one...needless to say, it's not near as tight as the first group. I was real happy with the first group...4 shots inside a can of coppenhagen at 517 yards. The second group measured 3 3/8" with one flyer. Those darn flyers!!![^][B)] Here is some more interesting data: It was considerably hotter today than when I last Chrono'ed this particular load, and the velocities jumped up almost 200 fps. It was probably 92-95 degrees today versus a chili day when I last chronoed this load. No pressure signs though. Here's the load data:
Lapua Brass
CCI BR Primer
42 Grains of RL 22
95 Grain Nosler BT
Average Muzzle Velocity: 3034
Temp:92-95 Degrees
Light breeze
Leupold Vari-X III 6.5-20X50mm

That is nice. I finally found another load my lightweight 300 WM MK5 likes. Oddly is is with re22, and 180 balistic tips... I get similar sized groups, but at about 1/2 the distance. I think it is the guy behind the trigger.

Nice looking group. I have the same gun but I topped it with an IOR 6-24X50 with the MP8 reticle in it [^]. I have not had much of a chance to play with loads for mine yet. I am planing on using mine for a long range varmint gun since I already have a Bushmaster varminter for normal work. Have you tried shooting any of the 55 gr bullets yet and how did they work if you did. I did buy one box of the 55grs but only got to shoot one group at 100 yrs out of it but it barley held 1". On the flip side I fed some I cant remember and cant look right now but 95 or 100gr SP loads that I reloaded for my Savage 110 hunting rifle. I have fire a couple of groups out of those and they seem to hold under 1 MOA at 100yrds. I was in a hurry to go on a coyote hunting trip so I put some bowling pins out at 300 yards and was able to hit them reliably. The bad part of the shooting trip was we didnt see anything to shoot but we did get some good ATV rideing in [:)]. Well here is a quick pic of mine.

John, I have not tried any lighter pills yet. I'm kind of partial to the heavier ones. My best group with the 95 gr BT's is just under 3/8" at 100 yards. I have some 70 gr BT's that I might try when I run out of the 95's. I want to pick up some 107's next. Good luck with your experimenting and please let us know what works well in yours.
PS. Mine shoots best with the pills backed .005 off the lands. I have not tried seating into the lands yet, but I plan to next.
