Civil War Paper Cartridge Replenishment
The paper cartridges ( 20?) were stored in tubes bored into a wooden block. The block was then inside a leather case which was carried on a soldiers belt or such.
When the soldier needed to get more ammunition, did he have to replace the cartridges one by one or could he just replace the entire block?

During the 'War of Northern Aggression' the cartridges were carried in metal tins, made of tin, inside the leather cartridge box.
There was either one, or two, tins in the cartridge box. They were designed to carry 60 rounds.
The wooden cartridge holders were used BEFORE the Civil War.
