I would get RCBS Rockchucker. It will load all the listed calibers and you will never have to upgrade to better press. There is no better press. IMHO

What I need to know is are all presses the same, in other words can I buy a press and use it to reload 38 Special and change it to reload 8mm Mauser?

    No- You have three types
    Single Stage press
    Turret press
    and Progressive press.

For high volume (500+ Rounds at a time) buy a Dillion progressive
Single Stage RCBS,Forester, for say a few rounds here and there
I am in between and use a Lyman turret with two heads. (that will give me about 4-5 Cals. to reload depending on rifle or pistol)

RCBS, and others has a kit available from the retailers that has everything you need including a manual. It is the best way to get started. All you will need after that is the specific dies for each caliber, powder, bullets and primers. Welcome to reloading!
