Ok to cast/swedged use in what? Revolvers, yes. Semi-auto's, maybe. Rifles, sometimes.
Plated bullets (extreamly thin jacket) are also popular in handguns, just keep the velocity down (to hot and they tend to split the plating. Use cast bullet data with plated bullets (not jacketed data).

Im loading 45acp and 32 acp for semi-auto. The cast bullets are alot cheaper. FMJ's cost as much as complete manufactured bullets. quote:Originally posted by Tailgunner1954

I have been using the Berrys electroplated bullets and they are working out nice. They are just a little more expensive than cast but not much. Berrys also pays the freight.

[8D]I'm just being stingy because I only use FMJ/wadcutters in my S&W, N.M. and Colt cmdr .45's. I never have used cast bullets, Cheaperthandirt/Midway and Natchez always have such great deals on .44/.45 and .357 bullets (bulk). So don't take it to heart.Oh, I also never have to worry about "lead" fouling[:p][:p][:p][:D]

    Look at http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/
I have used the cast bullets they sell(Magnus). Reasonable price.
Might try to look at gunshows for cast ones, would save on shipping that way.
Just keep velocity at 1000fps or a bit below to keep down the leading.
I use cast simply because they cost less than jacketed.

I'll second the vote for Berry's plated bullets. I've been using thier 185 grain .45 RN, and they work well. They've also been pretty inexpensive, at about $14.75/250.

I checked out Berry's and they seem very reasonable. I paid $20 for 100 Speer FMJ's 230 grain. I got taken.
