Tumbling cases

Is it necessarry to tumble/clean the cases every time before you load a new one.

I have cleaned all the primer pockets but Im unsure as to what to do to the rest of the case.

  I tumble clean the brass I'm loading before I resize them and after I resize them.It helps protect my dies and I don't need to lube inside the case neck and after I resize,I don't have to wipe the lube off of the brass.That's just the way I prefer,Bob.

  I tumble them overnight, then I reload them. I dont fool with cleaning primer pockets.

  not if they are rifle cases. The bolt-thrust is controlled by the case expanding and actually "grabbing" the chamber walls to some degree. Overly polished brass does NOT get as good a hold on the chamber walls and increases bolt thrust as well as yields inconsistent case volumnes as some cases grab better than others, and expand moreso that the those that don't get as good a grip. If they are for strictly hunting, I don't see where that will matter, but for accuracy work, I polish every 5-6firings.

  I have a buddy who never cleans his brass, and it doesn't seem to hurt anything; but I am anal and have to clean mine. First with dry walnut to remove soot and dirt, then size, then polish in corn cob with polish.
  
  Sometimes I add mineral spirits to the walnut. Works well.

  [8D]I always clean my brass and polish-I'm egotistical and practical it saves braqs and ego, I feel good loading a POLISHED Cartridge and then shooting a GOOD group and ego, on camera POLISHED CASED-[}:)][:p][:p][:D]

  NO. But it does make for longer lasting dies. I reload as a hobby as well as for acuracy and economy. So I tumble polish all my bras and then completely prepp it also. I want my ammo to shoot good and look good.
