I have had a crony for several years. It works OK, is simple to use and has not broke yet. Then again, I have avoided putting a bullet through the display so far. 0 -
How crazy do you want to get Franc? They are all fairly accurate, and most will do the basic stat's (SD,Min/Max etc). What you get with the higher prices units is less sensitivity to change (bullet not passing over the exact center of sensor, clouds, angle of the sun etc.), the ability to handle longer shot strings, and better customer service.
Also would you ever be pushing the envelope in your load development? The top end units that incorperate strain gauge sensors (on the barrel) might be worth looking into than.
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0 -
I bought a Chrony F1. $80 right now at MidwayUSA. Seems pretty accurate for what I have predicted for drops on the ballistic programs. I get a low shot and sure enough it goes low on the target. Has no frills to it but you can get them later if you want. I just keep a log by hand when chrono'ing a series of loads. There is a lot of room to step up from what I have though. -Good luck

FancF,
I have a Shooting Chrony Master, got it for 125.00 at Midway with the remote station so you can view your data at the bench. Very good so far and VERY easy to setup. I think for the money they are great.
If you want more it to hold more data you can send it back in and have the software updated to do so.0 -
Thanks guys thats what I have been looking at. The Pact XP sounds nice to but read a few bad reviews.
Think the Crony is going to be the one. My big thing is going to be the light and the range, each station is built like a hallway with a roof. Its not real dark but shaded.

FracF,
I've used my Shooting Chrony with heavy overcast without issues. And the area where I shoot also has an over hang and is always pretty shady. Buddy has the PACT system and likes his very much. Both are good systems but I like the quick setup of the SC a lot more.0 -
I have had a Pact about 10 years. No problems so far.

I bought the Chrony Gamma master for like $189 and it has been fine thus far. I like the printer and remote screen with it as well.
